When I find these images to paint, they are often not my photos. Usually I do not reproduce the original image but use it as a reference to inform my own creativity. Imagine the days before photos, paint in tubes or Internet? Being an artist then would have been impossible for most especially for women Must've been a lot of crocheting, knitting, and sewing going down! .
