In this painting the head may be a bit large for the body. My wonderful husband encourages me to use calipers but, I am very stubborn about using anything but my eyes to calculate proportions. I am willing to be off in the drawing because If I depend on tools for creating the foundation of my work my eyes and brain will never get better at figuring it out. I will turn a painting upside down and look at it in the mirror if I'm having trouble seeing correctly.Sometimes what the paint is doing is more exciting than correct proportions...
