Painting a beautiful young woman is challenging, the inspiration is there, but it's a delicate process and a humbling one. The idea is to provide enough information but not too much, so for those who knew her there is space for them to enter with their memory of her and fill in the gaps, which completes the painting.
I'm deeply honored to have painted Elira, as I've come to know her through the untimely event of her passing. God bless Elira and her family who have to continue on without her extraordinary presence in their everyday activities.
